So the ‘half face’ idea comes from a story in the ‘Sandman’ series by the great Neil Gaiman. In this story is a character named Mazikeen, lover of Lucifer, who has only half a face ( for what reason I have no idea). A truly horrific scene is when they kiss and you can see, because Mazikeen has only half a head, their tongues intertwining. Masterful writing!
